|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Cemetery entrances on 4th Street, Windber [Somerset County] and off of Cemetery Dr., Richland Twp.[Cambria County]. The 4th St. entrance has a small sign that says simply St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. It is across the street from Saint John Cantius Cemetery. The entrance from Cemetery Dr. is unmarked, but directly across from the Saints Cyril and Methodius II Cemetery entrance [blue building]. The sign in the main picture is INSIDE the cemetery, near the center, and actually marks an old entrance, to the original[old] section of the cemetery.
In the late 1930s FDR's Work Project Administration (WPA) program surveyed cemeteries throughout PA for burials from about 1900 to the then current date. "Saint Mary's Greek Catholic Church Cemetery" in Windber was one of those cemeteries. Much of that data has been captured in a spreadsheet and uploaded here. Hardcopies are/were available in the Windber Public Library. Transcripts are available from the Pennsylvania USGenWeb Archives at:
