|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
A group of interested Sidney citizens researched church records, county clerk records, and many other historical sources for names, and raised enough money to begin to restore "Boot Hill." It is a work in progress as funding becomes available. After the military personnel were removed to other cemeteries in 1922, there are almost 200 individuals still buried here. The history of the site and names, burial dates, and cause of death are listed on a group of signs installed at the site.
Names of known burials in Sidney's "Boot Hill"
From the Sidney Telegraph microfilm files, Fort Robinson Curator Tom Buecker records, G.H. Austin family records, historian Loren Avey research in published book "Lynching's, Legends & Lawlessness" and other sources...If records had spellings of names listed differently - both are included. All other burials are unknown.
Besides the individuals whose names, death/burial date, and cause (if known)are listed on their own pages, the following were identified when they were moved to Ft McPherson, but no death date or cause of death is known:
James Hughes, Co. F
Joseph L. Bulhand, Co M Mich Cav
