You must go through the entrance of Riverview Memorial Park gates and then walk straight ahead into the woods. This was originally the Thomas Hooper Family Cemetery. After Thomas Hooper passed, his daughter, who was married to David Love McWilliams, renamed it Hooper-McWilliams. It is very over grown and you can not see the entrance without moving brush around. When the property for Riverview Memorial Park was purchased from part of the original Thomas Hooper property it did not include the family cemetery, therefore Riverview does not maintain it. The upkeep of this cemetery was by family volunteers only until the last family member to keep it up became ill and asked the Boy Scouts of America to help. They cleaned up the cemetery once about 1995 and erected the sign to the entrance that is seen today. Property records show that Riverview owns property on one side of Hooper-McWilliams and Georgia Power owns the property on the other side. Hooper-McWilliams shows as an old family cemetery and belongs to no one.
Update: Sept 6, 2016. River Line Historic Area, part of Cobb County Cemetery Preservation, has taken over maintaining this cemetery. They have cut and cleared so many trees and undergrowth, it looks amazing. Thanks to all who helped.
