Brynmawr cemetery is situated on the hillside overlooking the town.
Following the publishing of the Burial Act of 1852, many towns used land just outside the boundary as a cemetery overseen by the Burial Board. Brynmawr Cemetery was first used about 1854, these cemeteries would have grounds consecrated for Anglican use and grounds unconsecrated for the use of Nonconformists
