|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Opened in 1914(first interment 28th September 1914), this 11-acre cemetery was private until 1958 when it was known as Becontree Cemetery. Prior to 1914, Dagenham people were buried at Dagenham parish churchyard,in the small chapel cemeteries at Chadwell Heath or Roneo Corner. It is now surrounded by Eastbrookend Country Park. Many German aircrew from WWII were originally buried here.
This site has both full memorial and traditional graves and lawn graves. There is also a memorial garden that is reserved for burying cremated remains. The registers are with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The cemetery stands in The Chase,a road not marked,to the east of Dagenham Road in Rush Green, Romford. Intending visitors using satellite navigation devices should use postal code RM7 0SS which is the code for the Millenium Centre which lies just before the cemetery entrance.[Ilford Park Cemetery removed from the list of aliases August 2013]
