Cemetery on Cockrell Creek, Rapides Parish La
What is now called Cockrell Creek was known as Beaver by the old timers - the relatives that knew of this cemetery.
This cemetery is unnamed and unmapped as for as I know. It does not appear on the U.S.G.S. topographical map of Rapides Parish. It is in the woods and is covered with dense forest and undergrowth. It is located in a generally S.E. direction from Midway, approximately 2-3 miles off the Forest Hill - LeCompte highway. At present the land is owned or leased by the Meeker Hunting Club
and a pad locked iron gate approximately 3/4 to 1 mile from the cemetery blocks the entrance.
The cemetery is quite large and presumably quite old. Most graves are probably unmarked. I assume this from the numbers of sunken places and distances between stones.
