The cemetery is located in the front yard of the present house and farm buildings. It is well taken care of and contains a very large monument with 2 bronze plaques outlining the history of the Hiebert family. (Source: Manitoba Genealogical Society [Adapted])
This cemetery in the Rural Municipality of Hanover is located on the original homestead of Jacob and Katherina Hiebert on which they settled in 1875. A plaque commemorates that homestead and another plaque commemorates the people buried in the cemetery. (Source: Manitoba Historical Society [Adapted])
Dominion Land Survey coordinates: LSD11-18-07-04-E1
A part of the story of the town and its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 2009 is told in the volume "Settlers Of The East Reserve - Moving In - Moving Out - Staying". A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society, as transcribed by members in 1999. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the MGS Manitoba Name Index (or MANI). Some additional information is contained in the 106-page, 1996 MGS Special Projects publication "Carved in Stone: Manitoba Cemeteries and Burial Sites"(revised edition).
