This warm crowded churchyard looked after by the FRIENDS of St MARYS holds one WW1 Grave. Popular as a Cemetery with middle-class londoners until 1906 when the people's warden took legal action against the rector to stop the burial of non-parishoners and won.
The Church dates back to 1135 and is a Grade 1 listed building.Declared redundant in 1972 it was vandalised and fell into disrepair.Four years later it was rescued and a charitable trust formed to preserve it is a consecrated church. Now a flourishing Music and Arts Centre holding regular events. |
