|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The McLean Cemetery is on private property three miles west of Zimco, on Rotch Road. It is located about 100 yards from the old home site of John Lauchlin McLean and his wife, Catherine McDonald McLean, who moved to Clarke County, Alabama from Richmond County, North Carolina, in 1857.
There are only three graves with markers. Two are the McLeans and the third is a child with surname Allgood. It is estimated there are about 30 additional unmarked graves.
The graves are deep in the woods and down a dirt road that is no longer in use. A 4-wheel drive vehicle or walking is the only way to get to them. The trees in and around this burial ground are about 100 feet tall. The site is free of underbrush. Reportedly, there is a natural spring nearby.
This area was called "Good Springs" on the 1870, 1880 and 1900 US Federal Census.
At Latitude 36.63420 Longitude -87.88780, Rotch Road will make a steep right turn in a downward direction. The cemetery is about 1/2 mile further down this road on the left. It is about 50 yards off the road and cannot be seen from the road.
