|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Directions: This cemetery is located in the community of Bayou Chicot. From the junction of US Hwy. 167 and LA Hwy. 106, go south on US Hwy. 167 for approximately .7 of a mile. Turn left onto Stagecoach Road (the fire station is at this corner). Go approximately 1.6 miles and turn right (south) onto Ferguson Cemetery Road. At the end of this gravel road (1.0 mile down) is the Ferguson Cemetery.
History: This cemetery was originally a family cemetery, but gradually other members of the Bayou Chicot community began to use it also. There are approximately two acres under fence, but the actual property consists of approximately four acres. Isaac Griffith originally owned the property and set the hillside area apart for the burial of a child that belonged to a family traveling through the area. Inside the front gate, there is a driveway (actually was the old road) that divides a small section to the north from the main body of the cemetery. The oldest marked burial is inside a small fenced plot near a very large Cedar tree that is in the center of the cemetery. By Mary Parker Partain and Jane Parker McManus on 20 October 2000.
