Fort Gibson National Cemetery is located in Muskogee County, 1 1/2 miles northeast of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. The cemetery has significant historical value as a Civil War cemetery and also a rich Indian tradition. It covers 48 acres and includes 17,000 interments. The office, which is open Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays, offers a historical self-guided tour. Weekend visitors may use the graveside locator in front of the Administration Building to find directions to a grave. |
