|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The church was constituted 6/24/1826 by Rev Arthur Williams
& Chesley Davis. James Hodges served as the first clerk of the newly formed church. The first services were held on 7/22/1826 per church records.
The church was built near the creek and remained until the flood in 1850. It had been extremely dry for several months
and the crops needed water. The church was having an all day meeting, praying for rain. A severe electrical storm struck with rain, wind and lightning. The creek quickly overflowed as the horses were unhitched and the saddles place under the church for safe keeping. The women removed the steel hoops from their skirts in fear. The storm ended late in the day with the animals gone and the saddles washed away from underneath the church. They relocated to higher ground in 1851.
