Crabapple Church and Cemetery are located in Wheeling Township, Belmont CO., OH, about two miles south of New Athens and a short distance north of Uniontown. The first nucleus of the Crabapple Presbyterian Church was gathered as early as 1799 by Rev. Joseph Anderson. Itís one of the oldest cemeteries in the county and is near the Harrison County, border. It is on Zeyer Rd., CR 96, north of Uniontown, off SR 9, in an area of reclaimed strip mines. The original Presbyterian Church here was the first and largest in Wheeling Township. In 1803 Robert and William McCullough helped to organize the church. The first sermon was preached by Rev. John Rea, to a congregation of forty members, which included the McCulloughs, McKibbons, Campbells, Snedekers, Brokaws and Merritts.
Crabapple Cemetery is also known as Crabapple Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The cemetery is 3.27 acres and dates from 1806. The cemetery is well kept but many of the stones are no longer readable.
