"A short distance from the old Carringer Post Office on the Millsaps farm is the Old Tallassee School. In the beginning the Quakers established a church there. After the church fell into a state of disrepair, a school was built there. It was known as Tallassee School. The Quakers established a cemetery by the church. The school was used for church purposes and when a revival was held there the people got happy. From that time on the school house was known as "Happy Top."
