|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This Graveyard containing 5 Union soldiers from the Civil War, has been maintained for 145 years by the private landowner. The landowner at the time of the burial was a Confederate soldier, away from home. He vowed that the graves would be maintained and not forgotten, because of the courage of soldiers on both sides of the Civil War. It is located on private land, in the woods. The graves were only marked with fieldstones.
Recently the Richmond County Historical Society, with help from Congressman Larry Kissell, the Veterans Administration, local Civil War researchers, and a researcher who went to the National Archives in Washington, have identified the 5 Union soldiers who were buried here.
A dedication ceremony was held on October 2, 2010, and marble gravestones from the Veterans Administration were unveiled.
