|Wood's Lane off Big Bethel Road|
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Grave site reported by Mr. Mack McDonald, current resident in the old Wood Homestead. Graves are located in a group of trees, adjacent to an old wooden shed about 25 yards from the McDonald house. There are no existing markers, and no signs of the graveyard except a slightly elevate area of the ground.
Information from the Wood Family Bible and the Hampton Health Department. Acknowledgment: W. S. Keith for compiling information. Mrs. C. W. Purcell, Elwood Wood, Kenneth Wood and John William Jones for providing information. Site visited by Barry Miles on 4 January 1997 and Mr. Mack McDonald informed him that he had learned that there was a slave cemetery in the woods at the end of Wood's Lane to the right (same side of road as the McDonald house and grave site). These woods were part of the original Wood Plantation which was several thousand acres.
