|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Old Harriman Cemetery and Harriman Cemetery (often called Harriman City Cemetery) are sometimes referred to as Walnut Hill Cemetery since both cemeteries are located in the Walnut Hill community. They are close to each other, but not connected. Old Harriman Cemetery is historically known as the black cemetery. As of this date in 2011, this cemetery is not maintained.
Directions - From the point of Highway 27 and Hickory Street (North of downtown Harriman) travel west on Hickory Street, which turns into Old Roane Street. Turn left on Washington Drive then right onto Redwood Drive. Pass Willow Road to Cemetery Road. As you enter the Harriman Cemetery, turn right on the first road and travel approximately one-quarter of a mile. The road that takes you to Old Harriman Cemetery is lined with grave markers until you are through Harriman Cemetery. Once you reach Cemetery Road, you are at Old Harriman Cemetery. There are grave markers on both sides of the road and in the woods.
