SW 1/4 Section 28, Township 7 N, Range 15 W.
From Mountain View, OK take Hwy 9 west for 2 3/4 miles, turn left on county road 2340, proceed 2 1/2 miles; turn left at Rainy Mountain Kiowa Church sign go approx 1/2 mile, turn right and cemetery is on the right.
This is one of the six Indian cemeteries located in Kiowa County. Five of these cemeteries are called intertribal cemeteries, containing Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache graves and are owned by the Kiowa, Comanche and Apache Tribes. This cemetery is owned and maintained by the Rainy Mountain Kiowa Church. This new cemetery began to be used in the early 1960s possibly due to the fact that the unfilled sections of the Old Cemetery are subject to floods during heavy rains. |
