Mellingertown Westmoreland County Pennsylvania USA
Cemetery notes and/or description: This old family cemetery is located on Route 31 just a couple hundred feet from the highway, on the right, as you enter Mt.Pleasant going East. Most of this family is buried here. Small cemetery
"Early history tells us that in 1839, Samuel Mellinger was a manufacturer of farm machinery. He and his family operated a foundry. There they made the iron picket fence that surrounded this private family cemetery, in the early 1800 period. The gravestones were re-set in the summer of 1969, through the efforts of George Mellinger of Dayton, Ohio (he is a great grandson of Samuel and Mary),who solicited contributions for the work. The old iron picket fence has been removed, as it was in bad condition. Two flower urns have been added; it now looks very neat."
