|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Fairview Cemetery is managed by the city of New Albany, Indiana through an office located in the cemetery itself. The cemetery has an estimated 90 acres of burial ground. The cemetery was the second city cemetery and was designated the Northern Burial Ground at its official inception on July 30, 1841, when land was acquired by the city. In 1890, an iron entrance gate was added, and the cemetery name was changed to Fairview Cemetery. Many notable individuals are buried here, including Indiana Governor Ashbel P. Willard (Governor 1857-1860) and Richard Lord Jones (1767-1852), the youngest soldier in the revolutionary war.
