|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This cemetery is a part of German Hill Cemetery. For list of interments, please refer to German Hill Cemetery until this cemetery can be merged with German Hill.
Note, George Fluhr (Pike Co Historian) in his book, Shohola: History of a Township, 1992, p 141 - 142 clarifies the confusion over the two names for this cemetery:
"On German Hill Road is the German Hill Cemetery, and adjoining it, St. Ann's Cemetery. It began as the Hipsman (Huebschmann) farm cemetery on that 445 acre farm shortly after the Civil War. Among the earliest burials were Elizabeth Kreiter Hipsman, first wife of Civil War veteran Valentine E Hipsman ...Today the Shohola Cemetery Association, Inc administers the cemetery.
In 1960 Father Mulligan, pastor of St Ann's Church arranged for the purchase of about an acre of the German Hill Cemetery...."
