Established prior to 1732 by Canary Islanders who formed the first organized civil settlement in Texas at San Fernando de Bexar, now San Antonio. Hallie Garrison says the cemetery is also known as Castro Cemetery. It is located off U.S. 181 some two blocks north at Texas 97/F.M. 536 intersection (Plum & 10th Streets).
