|Saint Simons Island|
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Here, in unknown graves more than two centuries old, lie many of the early settlers of Frederica, a long-deserted town at Ft. Frederica National Monument. General James Oglethorpe, governor of the colony of Georga, passed this cemetery often en route to his plantation outside of town. The noted clergymen John and Charles Wesley presided at funerals here. Some graves are indicated by crumbling brick vaults and tombs, but there are no visible transcriptions. Interment information was gleaned from historical records.
