Cemetery notes and/or description:
This cemetery is associated with the Haywood Baptist Church and is used by the local Afro-American population. It is located in the northeast quadrant of Red River County, Texas. From Hwy 82 and FM 1159 go 8.9 miles north on FM 1159 and the cemetery is on the right. The only deed record found was for the Haywood School Community. J. R. Dilworth et ux deeded one acre of the Texas and Pacific Railway Survey #33 in an instrument made on 5 Jan 1904 and filed for record 14 May 1904 in Book CH Vol 48 Page 639 to the Haywood School community. Since there appears to be three to four acres under fence, there has to be additional acquisitions. The oldest marked burial is that of Green Ingram who died on 17 Feb 1896. This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence and Sue Dale on 18 Jan 1999. We visited the site again on 15 Jan 2004 and took the GPS readings. We also did a re-walk of the cemetery adding new burials and noting marker changes. As of 31 Dec 2004 this cemetery had 322 documented burials

All information for this cemetery location/notes is from the books ‘Burial, Cemetery and Death Records for Red River County, Texas' by Lawrence and Sue Dale, Copyright © 2005.
