Cemetery notes and/or description: According to the standard work on cemeteries in Baxter county, Arkansas, "Of Grave Importance" (Baxter County Historical Society, 1994): "The Messick-Young Cemetery is located in Mountain Home, at the North end of Church Street in the [Meadow] Springs Apartment complex. Today, after the grading of the area for an apartment complex, only two stones remain. Only the James M. Messick grave has a marked stone, recently placed by family members."
According to Dorothy Messick, who supplied the names in these memorials: "There are many more people buried in this cemetery..." but apparently she could not name them. She did feel that Pink Smith, "the merchant partner in the pioneer Cox Denton Store in Gassville" was buried here. |
