I used to play around this cemetery as a young boy in the early 1970's when there were no residential houses and reminants of old man Curtis' farm house which was in what we called the 2nd valley. There is also a trench, which some say was where the soldiers stood ground against forces that came up from the creek during the civil war. Many artifacts were found in that area. As a teen I helped clean up the cemetary, and was almost able to buy the lot valued at $100 from a retired paster who lived in Danville, VA. Unfortunately I left the area in the late 80's and lost hope of ever getting the chance to save it from the encroching construction and growth in the area. The Curtis family was very large and many lived throughout the Warwick County area. They even owned slaves.
