From 1718 until 1971 this mausoleum was the burial ground for the lower noble house of Lippe. It has three chambers and also a small cemetery surrounding it.
Originally built outside the city of Detmold, it is now located in the southern part of the city.
Detmold is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with a population of about 74,000. It was the capital of the small Principality of Lippe from 1468 until 1918 and then of the Free State of Lippe until 1947. Today it is the administrative center of the district of Lippe, situated in Lemgo County.
