LOCATION: In the village of Wappinger Falls, immediately west of Zion church.
CONDITION: Well cared for.
INSCRIPTIONS: 98 in number.
The late Clinton W. Clapp, born at Wappingers Falls, in 1831, a life-long resident of the place and a student of local history, is authority for the statement that land for a community burial ground east of the falls of Wappingers Creek was given in 1742 by Nichols Brewer and that many interments were made there in early years unmarked by stones. In 1834-35 Zion church was built east of the ground and after that the use of burial ground decreased.
