|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
From the intersection of Routes 340 and 33 in Elkton, go east on Rt. 33 for about 3 and 1/2 miles. Turn right on Rt. 628 (Beldor Road). After one tenth mile, turn left up a steep gravel road to a locked cable across the road. Park and walk up a wide path to the cemetery, which is mowed and beautifully maintained.
Established by William Maiden and his wife, Sarah Harris Gardner, who purchased the property on August 31, 1838 from Thomas and Anna Miller. It is the final home to many of their descendants and neighbors. Today the Maiden Cemetery is situated within the Shenandoah National Park system and is one of the largest family cemeteries in the Park.
