|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Jasper County. Peace Church, a Baptist Church, was organized in about 1855. This cemetery was started by them. Now, there is nothing left of this church and the cemetery has been in total disarray for many decades. Stones are broken or laying on the ground and weeds and brambles are everywhere. There have been attempts to clean it up in times past but it soon reverts to nature. This cemetery is the largest non-maintained cemetery around. When it is burned off, the whole place can be seen and many old markers become visible. There are so many rocks and stubs under all of that vegetation that any attempt to keep it clean would entail a lot of money and effort just to get started.
To reach the cemetery go north on Schifferdecker Avenue in Joplin past the chat piles and to where the road comes to a "T" and go left on Peace Church Ave for about a mile to the cemetery on the east side of the road.
