|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church and Cemetery is located in Walton County, GA on State Highway 81, just north of Shiloh Road and North of Loganville, GA.
There was a dispute of beliefs on Baptist doctrine and in August 1837, a minority of 23 members withdrew from Bay Creek Baptist Church and organized Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church. They were granted permission to use the Bay Creek building one Sunday in each month and eventually bought the property for $75. The Bay Creek group moved to a new location three miles east of Loganville on the old Monroe-Lawrenceville Road, constructing their Church in 1844 and retaining the old name.
In a Walton County Deed, dated March 16, 1893, between George Boss and W. J. Forrister, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar, conveyed to James R. Garrett and Daniel S. Watson, deacons of Shiloh Church and their successors, all that tract of land, part of Land Lot No. 256, lying between the three acre piece deeded to said Church by Elijah Still and the graveyard land, containing one tenth of an acre, more or less.
The cemetery is still being used and is maintained by Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church. As a Southern custom, most all graves face East. Oldest grave: Martha Peters, 1830 in an unmarked grave.
One Revolutionary War Soldier; approximately 15-17 CSA Veterans; several WWI and WWII Veterans.
