|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Barnhart Island Cemetery (Episcopal Diocese of Albany), was one of nineteen family, church, and community cemeteries affected by the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project which had to be moved before the flooding on the St. Lawrence River to create the seaway passage into the Great Lakes.
The new location for the Barnhart Island Cemetery is in the southern portion of the Pine Grove Cemetery overlooking the Racquette River.
"The remains and the memories to the deceased were moved in 1956 from the family cemetery on Barnhart Island to this place. Reinterment here was made necessary by the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway power and Seaway developments that now inundate the original cemetery."
