|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This small graveyard on the Scotchtown property is for families that lived in the plantation house. Scotchtown is best known as the home of Patrick Henry, he lived there from 1771-1778.
Please Note: The graveyard is on private restricted property and the house and grounds and graveyard are video monitored, written permission is needed to visit.
All visible headstones are listed here. There would have to be a massive effort to clean the grounds of dense ground cover to uncover any further headstones.
It is believed that Sarah Shelton Henry, the first wife of Patrick Henry is buried in this graveyard. If her body does rest here, it is in a now unmarked location.
Please, do not list burials in this graveyard unless there is documentation that the individual is buried here. It does no service to anyone to list graves in any graveyard that relies only on supposition.
