|Knoxville (Tioga County)|
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Free Church Cemetery lies immediately south of the actual church building.
The first burials in Knoxville were near Troup's Creek, but they were exhumed and reburied in the Free Church Cemetery, whose land was on the property of Jonathon Matteson. According to Edwin A. Glover, burials began here in 1832 and, by 1940, 101 burials had been reported.
Today, like the Quaker Cemetery, all markers have been removed and the borough maintains it as a park. And, aside from records, there is no evidence that a cemetery ever existed here.
