|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Brent Cemetery is a family cemetery located in Davy Crockett National Forest off of the Tadmor Road, as called by the old timers, or Forest Service Road 513, turn on Private Road 5102 and it is one half mile down on the left.
The cemetery started when a young baby son died during a cold winter, December 1890. He was placed in the garden and plans were made to move him to a Crockett Cemetery to join other family members. These plans were changed when a small sister died and was buried there.
If you walk out into the National Forest, you can see where the home was, remains of the fireplace and crepe myrtles remain.
With the passing of years, more family members were buried there and a neighbor's infant. Also, a mail carrier, while on his route, died of a sickness at the Brent homestead. The weather was too bad to take him to Crockett, so the family buried him also.
It is rumored that several slaves were buried there, but no markers were found.
