There has been some confusion regarding this cemetery and the Saint Peters Cemetery-
To further clarify - the driveway off County Rd 16-C going west separates the two Cemeteries:
Saint Peters Cemetery encompasses the area north of the drive (right side) - closest to Holgate. Land (adjoining that of Saint Johns) for Saint Peters Lutheran Cemetery was purchased in May 1906.
Saint Johns Cemetery is to the left (south) of the same driveway continuing to County Road F.
The majority of Saint Peters founding charter members (or members or their families) had been Saint Johns members prior. At the time of the breakaway, Saint Johns was Missouri Synod and conducted services in the German language. The young people differed in doctrine and wanted English spoken at services.
