Cemetery notes and/or description: Conley’s Chapel was first organized in the old Angola Schoolhouse and was called Angola Methodist Episcopal Chapel. When the church was incorporated in February 1838, the first name was changed to Connelly’s ME Chapel in honour of it’s first pastor, William Connelly. He was a carpenter who was responsible for the first church building in 1838. Eventually the name was shortened to Conley’s Methodist Chapel. The earliest tombstone in the cemetery is over the grave of Mrs Hannah Lynch, who passed away April 3, 1862. The current sanctuary was built in 1876. It was thoroughly renovated in 1901. Additional grounds were purchased in September 1912 for expansion. The sanctuary was completely renovated again in 1944. In the summer of 1978, the church constructed the fellowship hall. In the summer of 2001, Conley’s purchased 21 acres on Route 24 and constructed Conley’s United Methodist Church for the area’s growing population. The original chapel is still used for regular services and burials.
