Cemetery notes and/or description:
Originally there were two cemeteries within the confines of what is now Pioneer Park: the Church of England (St. Paul Anglican) Cemetery; and Wesleyan (Methodist) Cemetery, located along Wright Street.
Due to vandalism and neglect, many headstones were damaged and smashed. In 1965, the town council decreed that the sites were to be bulldozed and converted to parkland. The headstones not damaged were salvaged and were re-erected, with no regard for previous family grouping, to the corner of Church and Drew Streets, rendering all existing stones as CENOTAPHS.
