|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Per the Vermont Old Cemetery Association, this is also called "Roberts-Sharon 4 Corners Cemetery" and "John Burham Farm Cemetery."
Can be accessed via Turnpike Road or Mine Road in Strafford or via Turnpike Road in Norwich on foot or sturdy off-road vehicle. Shortest route (though all uphill) is from Strafford via the Mine & Copperas Roads). The cemetery itself is thickly overgrown and swarmed with bees in the summer. There aren't many headstones left. Most graves are marked with field stones. The cemetery is in the vague area where Norwich, Thetford, Sharon & Strafford meet.
Via Strafford (Turnpike Road): Go to end of passable part of Turnpike Road & park. Walk on logging road until you reach a four-way intersection. Turn left and go about 1/2 mile. The cemetery is around a bend in the road.
Via Strafford (Mine & Copperas Road): As of 2011, it will again be possible to access the cemetery through Copperas Rd that branches off from Mine Road. For the past couple years, the EPA clean-up at the Elizabeth Copper Mine shut down Copperas Road to vehicular traffic. Unobserved foot traffic on the weekend was still possible, though technically illegal. It is also the roaming ground of moose, so take precaution.
Via Norwich: Park at the Gile Mountain Fire Tower lot at the end of Turnpike and continue walking as if Turnpike goes straight into the woods. Follow the trail until you reach the four-way intersection and turn right.
