The Mount Auburn Cemetery is at the end of Mount Auburn Street. It abuts the Saint John Cemetery to its north. The cemetery was officially opened as a town cemetery in 1820 to supplement the town center burial grounds behind the Congregational meeting house and on Hayden Rowe. The cemetery was extended during the 1890's and additional land was purchased in 1906 and 1964.
Burials include 4 Revolutionary War veterans, and 54 Civil War soldiers.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission refers to this cemetery in MACRIS as HPK.806 Mount Auburn Cemetery.
This cemetery is referred to as GR6 Mount Auburn Cemetery in the "Vital Records of Hopkinton Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849".
