Oak Knoll Cemetery
Amador City, Amador County, California, USA
This cemetery was started after the one in town filled up and it was considered "upscale". Joseph Taylor gave the plot of land for the cemetery to Amador City. It was originally known as Taylor's Graveyard. The largest grave site is that of the Taylor family located in the middle of the knoll. The entrance gate has a date of 1905, which could be when the cemetery was given to Amador City. The oldest existing headstone is that of Joseph Phipps, who died in 1870 at age 26 days.
The people buried here died from the hard times; mining accidents, childbirth, and infant diseases.
This is still an active cemetery.
