|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
WOODLAWN is a private, non-profit cemetery that was established in Auburn, Indiana in 1870. It registers about 100 new burials each year. It is managed by a board of trustees and employs a full-time superintendent. It lies just to the south of two other cemeteries in the community, ROSELAWN and the AUBURN MAUSOLEUM. Each of these three organizations is a separate entity.
The grounds of the cemetery are well- maintained. Blocks (1-20) are clearly marked in the original plat as well as in the newer addition (A-K) referred to as SOUTHLAWN. Many people have mistaken the SOUTHLAWN addition to be another separate cemetery; it is not. It is a newer section of Woodlawn. There are future plans for expansion; land across the road has been purchased for a third addition.
Detailed maps of Woodlawn Cemetery may be obtained from resources located at the Willennar genealogy annex of the Eckhart Public library in Auburn, Indiana.
