St. Johns Anglican Cemetery, Marieton
Marieton
Regina Census Division
Saskatchewan  Canada

Cemetery notes and/or description:

Marieton Church and Cemetery is a Municipal Heritage Property located approximately fifteen kilometres west and nine kilometres south of the Village of Bulyea in the Rural Municipality of McKillop No. 220. The property features a one-storey, wood-sided church with square entrance tower, constructed in 1912, and a community cemetery dating from 1920.

The Anglican Marieton Church was dedicated in December of 1912 by Archdeacon Dobie.

Built in a spare architectural style, its only exterior decoration was a crenellated bell tower surmounting the roof over the front entrance. The interior though, which took another seven years to complete, contains a elegant wood ceiling and hand built pews.

Built at the same time as the church, 1912, a stable was destroyed in a wind storm in 1920.

Still a land mark after ninety years of service the Marieton church over looks the cemetery, the last resting place of many early settlers in the area.
