|Travis Road in East Brewton|
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Spring Hill Cemetery is not well known and few realize it exists because of a close proximity to the old Fort Crawford Cemetery, as well as some confusion about the street name. However, Spring Hill is located within the town limits of East Brewton on Travis Street. The other Travis is located across the Conecuh River at Riverview.
To reach Spring Hill from Hwy-41/29 (also known as Mildred Street or Forest Avenue), turn east onto Shoffner Street at the BankTrust branch office building. Proceed up a low-grade hill toward the historic Fort Crawford grounds to Dailey Street. Dailey angles off Shoffner to the right, so turn onto Dailey and continue for several blocks to Travis Street. At Travis turn right and head southward for about 200 yards. The old cemetery will be on the left behind tall iron gates that designate the only entrance (the cemetery is completely fenced on all sides and the graves are scattered throughout beneath large oak trees).
Use caution when driving through the gates as the opening is narrow. Many graves in this cemetery are hidden beneath grass and leaf litter, so it is advisable that one park in the open area and walk among the burial plots rather than drive beyond the service road.
