|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Gum Creek Church began about 1917-18 as a Mission Sunday School conducted by Rev. J. B. Ficklen, pastor of Covington Presbyterian Church. In July 1921, a tent meeting was held at the schoolhouse and as a result of meeting, 24 members were received and in November 192, Gum Creek was officially organized by a commission from the Atlanta Presbytery. On land donated by Misses Julia and Minnie Byrd, a building was immediately begun. In June 1922, the Church was dedicated. There were 24 Charter members in 1921.
As is the custom in southern cemeteries, all grave face East. Oldest grave: Daniel Scott Byrd, 1947 (charter member). Cemetery is maintained by the Church and is still being used; however there are few remaining plots available.
