|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The McClure Cemetery is on land that originally was from the Thomas Richardson 640-acre Survey, recorded in Vol. 5 of the records, Austin, Texas on 17 April 1850. After the death of Thomas Richardson in 1859, he was buried on his land, as was his wife, Susanna Anderson Richardson in 1872 - thus begins the history of McClure Cemetery. The land where the cemetery is located became the homestead of John Fletcher McClure and Sevelia Ann Richardson McClure (daughter of Thomas Richardson and Susanna Anderson Richardson). Their heirs were Mary Ann McClure, Harriet Elizabeth McClure Oates (wife of John Washington Oates, whose family have also been buried in the cemetery),Susanna Marie McClure O'Quinn and Thomas H. McClure . Source: Book Y, p. 501-, Deed Records, Angelina County, Texas. Most everyone in this cemetery is related through various family ties.
