Alexander Baptist Chapel is a black church built between 1876-1889. White clapboard church with cemetery in back, and sides. Is located on Short Sluder Branch Road (off of Alexander Rd), Leicester, N. C. The Chapel was renovated in 1988, however, due to lack of members the Chapel closed in 1996. The Chapel is now managed by Trustees. Many of the very old grave sites are not legible or broken, etc., cemetery is not well kept. However, inside the Chapel is beautiful and well maintained.
During the 1889-1900 there was a black district school (Colored Missionary Baptist) land was donated. The school has since been torn down, it sat up further on the hill from the Chapel.
