Cemetery notes and/or description: In 1859, when Belmont was incorporated, the town bought six acres of land from Leonard Stone for $400/acre, for use as a cemetery. A half acre was used as a school site until the building was moved to Cambridge in 1880. Between 1923 and 1951 and additional 8.39 acres were acquired from the Skahan family. In 1960, 2.85 acres where purchased from the City of Cambridge. Of the total seventeen acre area, 4.5 acres are in Cambridge. The roadways and paths are named for flowers and flowering bushes.
The earliest death date in the cemetery is 1861. This town owned multi-denominational cemetery is still in use.
