St. John's Lutheran Church has an adjacent cemetery. Sign says St. Johannes. 12 Jan 1875 an organizational meeting at Hanna Olsen (present Dahlseng farm) was held to establish St. John's Congregation in Pope County with land donated by Gustav Larson. Rev. Magnus Koefoed was its first pastor, 1875-1892. Nils and Gerhard Forde followed, serving until 1961. St. John's became a member of the Norwegian Synod in 1881. By 1887 the walls, ceiling, steeple, entry, balcony, and furnishings were completed. From 1875 to 1984 St. John's was a part of the parish with Indherred and Immanuel churches. Services in Norwegian were conducted for the first 75 years.
