|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
In the year 1883, the Norwegian Lutheran Church of Wadena acquired land adjacent to the church to be used as a grave church lot for the Norwegian Lutheran Church. When the church burned the land was deeded to the Emanuel Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wadena in 1895. Records of burials and grave lots were lost in the fire at that time. The cemetery was deeded to the Leaf River Cemetery Association in 1959 by the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wadena. The Leaf River Cemetery Association have recorded burials from 1910 to the present. There are other grave sites in the unplatted area which are not recorded in the ledger.
The cemetery is located north of Wadena just east of County Road 20, at the south edge of Section 29, Leaf river Township. This little cemetery is in a lovely setting on the side of a hill with some large trees in the older section.
As of September 2012, this cemetery has been totally walked by Findagrave contributers Jim Childers and Phyllis Nessett. All stones have been photographed and posted to Findagrave. There are several old unreadable stones and research is ongoing with the Wadena County Historical Society to try and identify as many of the unknowns as possible.
